Just one star but a myriad of trucks.

Texas is known as the lone star state and many, in fact most, homes we pass display a star or the Texan flag with its single star. All the ride today took place on Texas highway 7 and we were passed by many, many trucks all the way. Another thing about Texas is that their upper speed limit for single carriageway roads is higher than the other states with all traffic including large trucks able to travel at 75 mph. This means we had big trucks hurtling passed us and in some places there was no hard shoulder so some passed closer than we would have liked. Looked even worse to Mandy watching from the sidelines. They day also dawned misty which would not add to our safety. Luckily it was cool enough to wear hi viz vests.
It hotted up later and the mist cleared and after only 74 miles we finished in Crocket, Tx ( that's as in David Crockett.) it must have been quite a town back in the day but after pleasant suburbs the centre (and especially around our motel) is run down and a bit scary.
The Texan flag with the lone star.

Misty morning on highway 7

Health and safety committee look away now.
At least there is a hard shoulder here to keep the trucks further away

Keith summits one more hill to see.......another ahead!
