The Beginning is Nigh.
Hello this is Chris and Keith, who met cycling with the Evesham Wheelers.
After more than a year in rather low key gestation the big trip starts in two weeks.
The intention is to cycle from Oceanside, California on the Pacific Ocean to Jekyll Island, Georgia on the Atlantic. It is the shortest route across the USA but being in the south it is hot.

The intention is to cycle from Oceanside, California on the Pacific Ocean to Jekyll Island, Georgia on the Atlantic. It is the shortest route across the USA but being in the south it is hot.
As we have got this close it is now apparent that it may be a lot hotter in California than we'd been anticipating. This will mean early starts and finishes to get the riding in before it is too hot for safety. As a consequence the first casualty might be the photoshoot at the sunny starting point. Luckily Mandy, who is also driving the support vehicle, prepared this artist's impression!:-
